Well, all I can say is every cloud...
If you'd told me back in March 2020, while I sat at my desk in a Bury St Edmunds Estate Agency after eight years in the industry, that I'd be a wine merchant in three months and a business owner in twelve, I'd have advised you seek psychiatric help. It's amazing what a redundancy amidst a pandemic can do. You take stock, reset and work out what you're going to do next.
With nothing to lose and a chance to follow a path I never thought possible, I took to finding any work I could relating to the product I'm now pleased to say I sell. From sweltering hot days on East Anglia vineyards, planting and pruning vines to furiously packing box after box to make sure our clients don't go thirsty, even a stint as a Sommelier at a Michelin-starred restaurant, I've tried it all. But through all that my intrigue and enthusiasm has never waivered and following a career in wine has been one of the best decisions I've made.
Anglia Wines is therefore the result - a one-stop shop for all your wine needs, where there's no wine snobbery and hopefully the chance to drink something to remember, that you might never have had before. If you share the interest in drinking something exceptional, then do get in touch.
When not opening another bottle or talking favourite wines, I can be found at my spiritual home, Sunningdale Golf Club, where I've been lucky enough to play very average golf for many years, or in Nayland with my supportive wife, marvelling at our two young children!
