Customer Storage:
Anglia Wines is able to look after your cases, whether Under Bond or Duty Paid. Your wines will be stored in our company name with a tag attached stating your name as the owner of the wines. Storage is invoiced at the time of the wines' arrival, or 'landing', at the bond. Storage is charged at £7.50 per 6 bottle case or £15 per 12 bottle case per annum (inclusive of VAT). Please enquire for further details.
Customers are always able to visit their wine in physical form at our bonded warehouse with notice and by prior appointment.
In Bond:
When the status of wine is 'In Bond’ it simply means that the wine(s) have been imported into our Bonded Warehouse and are yet to have the UK Duty and VAT paid. Anyone can buy a case ‘In Bond’ and store it as such, it is only when the case is withdrawn from the warehouse for delivery that UK Duty will be charged along with VAT (20%) on the original cost of the case.
The 'In Bond' approach is the method of choice when investing in wine as it not only ensures that its condition can be accounted for, but also to promote a higher growth value per case over time.
Other benefits of buying in bond include no payable Inheritance or Capital Gains Tax, as well as fully covered insurance for loss or damage.
The current government duty rates are as follows:
Still & Sparkling Wine (11.5%-14.5% ABV) - £2.67 per bottle
High Alcohol Still & Sparkling Wine (15% ABV or more) - £3.21 per bottle
Fortified Wine (20% ABV or more) - £4.28 per bottle
N.B. While wine is considered a low risk, safe investment, values are subject to depreciation and you may get back less than you originally invested.
Storing wine correctly is big part of ensuring that a wine tastes as it should once opened. It's also helpful when you've not enough space to store it - after all, it does take up a lot of space.
